Our approach

Refinishing is both an art and a science. We apply just the right touch to smooth, restore, beautify and enhance the natural patina of your floors, and we work with you to select the finish that best suits your home.

Elite has earned the reputation of a Bona Certified Craftsman and uses a dustless sanding system with Bona dust containment, so airborne dust is captured at the source instead of settling through your home. We don’t finish until you are thrilled with your floor.

Dust captured at the source

Traditional sanding fills a home with fine dust that settles for weeks. Our Bona dust containment system pulls dust away as we sand, creating a healthier environment for your family and our team and a cleaner home when we leave.

Frequently asked questions

Should I refinish or replace my hardwood floors?

If the wood is structurally sound, refinishing can make floors look new at a fraction of the cost of replacement. Replacement is usually only necessary for extensive water damage with warping or mold, severe cupping, insect damage, broken boards or floors that have been sanded too many times.

How many times can hardwood floors be refinished?

Solid hardwood can typically be refinished many times over its life, often seven to ten times, though it varies with the thickness of the wear layer and how aggressively it was sanded before. We check during our assessment.

How long does refinishing take?

Most projects take several days depending on square footage, stain and finish. Plan to stay off the floors and keep pets in another part of the house until the finish dries. We give you a clear schedule before we start.

Is dustless sanding really dustless?

Our dust containment system captures dust at the sander and vacuums it away, so very little reaches the air. It is dramatically cleaner than traditional sanding.
