Wide plank, the look of a modern classic

Wider boards show more of the wood’s grain and make rooms feel calm and open. Paired with European white oak and a matte finish, wide plank is one of the most requested looks in Maryland homes today.

Patterns with presence

Herringbone and chevron bring movement and craftsmanship to entries, dining rooms and kitchens. Borders and medallions frame a space and turn a floor into a centerpiece.

“Mike and team replaced my old 2″ red oak floors with gorgeous 8″ quarter sawn, white oak planking. They sourced stunning wood. Installation was flawless. We are SO HAPPY. Their team was professional, polite and incredibly skilled.”

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between herringbone and chevron?

Both are zigzag patterns. Herringbone uses rectangular boards laid in a staggered, broken zigzag. Chevron boards are cut at an angle at the ends so they meet in a continuous point, like an arrow.

Should I choose prefinished or unfinished wide plank?

Prefinished boards arrive with a factory finish and go into use quickly. Unfinished boards are sanded and finished on site, which allows a custom stain color and a smooth, seamless surface. We help you weigh both.

Do you install exotic wood species?

Yes. We install exotic species alongside domestic hardwoods and can advise on how each one wears, ages and responds to Maryland humidity.

Which hardwood looks are popular in Maryland right now?

We are seeing wide plank floors, matte and low-sheen finishes, European white oak, natural and light tones and engineered hardwood for its stability.
