Prepared, acclimated and installed with care
Great floors start before the first board goes down. We check moisture levels, give the wood time to acclimate to your home and prepare the subfloor so the finished floor stays flat, tight and quiet for years.
On installation day, our crew protects your home, works cleanly and walks you through the finished floor before we leave.
What to expect on installation day
Hardwood that works in every room
Kitchens, basements, bedrooms and open living spaces each ask something different of a floor. We help you choose between solid and engineered construction, the right species and a finish that suits how the room is used.
Hardwood in kitchensFrequently asked questions
How long does a hardwood floor installation take?
As a general guideline, a single 12 by 15 foot room takes one to two days, multiple rooms or an open concept area take two to four days, and a whole-home installation takes one to two weeks. We confirm a timeline for your project at the consultation.
Can hardwood be installed over concrete or radiant heat?
Yes. We install hardwood over concrete slabs and radiant heat systems regularly. We assess your subfloor and recommend the right product and method, often an engineered hardwood, for a stable result.
Why does new hardwood need to acclimate?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity. Letting the boards adjust to the conditions inside your home before installation helps prevent gaps, cupping and other movement after the floor is down.
Can I put hardwood flooring in my kitchen?
Yes. Hardwood works well in kitchens when you choose the right construction, species and finish and care for it properly. Engineered hardwood and durable finishes are popular choices for kitchens.
